Sorcerer Opening, Germany.

Here’s a few minutes of the beginning of the German cut of Sorcerer, with the title Artemlos Vor Agnst (Wages Of Fear).

You can see how the film begins in South America. The characters’ backstories are handled through flashbacks later in the movie. What a mess.

Thanks to Leif Jonker for pointing these out.

The cut is indeed German, but the audio is Czech.
The German title would be “Atemlos Vor Angst”, which translated means “breathless with fear”.

I had this version on VHS tape when it was shown on British TV in 1985, but the opening started with the POV of the helicopter flying over jungle, (No shots of the oil refinery), with the ‘Main Title; by Tangerine dream playing. At the time, I was unaware of any other version. Prefer the Director’s cut.
